No Lives Left

Around a month ago, I finally got to watching Interstellar and it got me thinking about how much that movie played out like an RPG (role playing game). [Spoilers of the movie below] Intestellar's  Story: In Interstellar  Christopher Nolan creates a well thought out futuristic universe. Earth's population find themselves in another dust bowl where food staples are becoming extinct. The population is slowly dying off due to the dust and mankind is on the brink of giving up. Matthew McConaughey's character, Cooper ,  is fixated on his family and trying to raise his daughter and son with the help of his father-in-law.  Cooper, however, used to be an electrical engineer, and loves chasing down stray "runaway" drones and other tech. All Those Superpowers and They Still Couldn't Free Any Slaves... I haven't done the research, but I'd like to think that Captain America was created as positive propaganda to instill hope and values into the American people during World War II. Ever since his inception, Captain America has rarely changed. Even more so than Superman, Captain America preached the good ol' America values. He stood for freedom, he championed democracy, and most of all, he beat the Nazis. So it startled me when I read Marvel's 11 main comic issue series, Civil War. In the story, a group of no name superheroes start a reality TV show where they hunt down and defeat villains. Things go wrong where they fight a villain named Nitro. When trapped, he blows himself up, which takes out a huge chunk of the city, innocent civilians and all. The fear of the unknown. Taking that first crucial step into a new area. I know a lot of people who travel, but only to places that have been thoroughly traveled and explored. When people go on vacation it's never to a deserted island, but to a major city or hub with things to see and do. Heck, most people's greatest fear is to be stranded on a deserted island...alone. We like to feel safe-even when it means things are boring. True adventure requires us to abandon safety and embrace risk. Only with high risk will we find high reward. Dark Souls is a game that asks you to take that risk. Marvel Knights Vol. 2 Issue #2 I've recently finished the second season of The Dardevil  on Netflix and have been thoroughly pleased with the direction the show is taking. This a bit of a relief because season 1 had me interested, but the acting had me worried. I have to admit that the show definitely needs a bit of a warm up period before getting into but the character development and the grittiness really hook you in. In the second season they introduce a new anti-hero, The Punisher.  The Punishers actual name is Frank Castle. His family was murdered right after he came back from dep[loyment in the crossfire of a gang war. After witnessing this tragedy, he swears vengeance on not only gangs but  on anyone who commits a crime. The Punisher is a unique character because he has absolutely no problems killing criminals instead of just subduing them.
