Zack Snyder's Justice League Review: Redemption At A Cost

Image
Note: I tried to be as spoiler-free as possible because I actually think people who watched the Justice League 2017 version should watch this movie. Since the two films are so vastly different, it does feel like spoilers to reveal too much about what happens.  The #SnyderCut.... What can I say but  wow . We do live in a society . It's alarming to see how far our meme culture pushed their inside jokes from small communities outward, making grassroots initiatives. I mean, the existence of the SnyderCut was pure fanaticism at it's best.  It's tough to give a real breakdown of Zack Snyder's Justice League (ZSJL). This movie is a unique case of deja vu. The characters are all the same, the actors are all the same, the plot is pretty much the same, but scenes are almost completely different. The movie has a completely different progression to get to the same end goal.  It's also difficult to discuss the two Justice League without being confused. Technically, ZSJL...

Let Me Whine About WandaVision

Image
CAUTION: Spoilers for WandaVision included in this post. I already know I'm going to get some flak for this, but I'm gonna write it out anyways. WandaVision isn't as good of a show as it's cracked up to be. I think one of the biggest issues with WandaVision is that it's uncomfortable with telling a story without introducing as many connections as it can to the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe).  Now WandaVision is a good show. The acting is definitely excellent and I can't really comment on good writing because I honestly don't know what good writing is at this point anymore. It's just that there are a few episodes that really bring the whole thing down for me.  Let's talk about this After a slow and amazingly eerie build up from Episode 1 to 3, it's established that something is very wrong with the world Wanda lives in. Episode 1 involves the ever so creepy and eerie segment where Vision's (in the show's show, he's called "Viz...

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War Review

I've been doing less and less reviews of the animated DC movies because after the last few I've seen, I just can't bring myself to write about them anymore. Most of them just aren't worth the effort to watch. The idea of taking DC's storylines and trying to mash them up into 90 minute movie just hasn't been the same.  I originally liked Justice League Dark.  I loved how they explored the cast of semi-familiar characters who dabbled in the DC world of magic - something that wasn't really prevalent until Shazam!  came out. I recalled JLD  to be a competently made adventure which brought much needed refreshment to the DC animated universe. John Constantine being the central figure in a movie about defeating demons. It's great because the realm of magic is difficult for the normal pantheon of Justice League characters to deal with. Little known fact, but Superman is weak to magic.  I enjoyed the entirety of JLD. Sure, a lot of explanations came down to ...
